Gina F. Lungu

Gina F. Lungu

Gina earned a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Bucharest, an M.S. in Biology from Texas Woman’s University, and a Ph.D. in Veterinary Microbiology from Texas A&M University. She brings more than 25 years of experience spanning animal research, IACUC administration, animal research compliance, and animal care and use program oversight across academic, biomedical, and agricultural research environments.

Gina has served as Director of an Animal Welfare Office, research compliance leader, research scientist, and IACUC member. Her experience includes IACUC administration and oversight, protocol review, post-approval monitoring, facility inspections, animal welfare investigations, regulatory reporting, policy and SOP development, and training for research personnel. Her experience encompasses a broad range of laboratory animal species.

Her scientific background includes cancer and neurodegenerative disease research. Gina is a Certified Professional in IACUC Administration (CPIA), a credential she has maintained since 2017, and an AAALAC International Ad Hoc Visitor.

Doug Brining
I-ARCS principal

Doug Brining

Doug received a B.S. in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University at Galveston, a B.S. in Veterinary Science, and his D.V.M. from Texas A&M University. He has served as Attending Veterinarian and Program Director at multiple institutions, including governmental, general academic, and medical school environments. Doug brings almost 30 years of experience in laboratory animal medicine and veterinary oversight of animal care and use programs.

He has played an active role in the launch of two major U.S. ABSL4 facilities during his career, including contributions to design, operations, SOP development, and active participation in the first animal work conducted in each facility. His experience encompasses a broad range of laboratory animal species, from rodents to non-human primates, as well as specialized research models.

Doug is a Diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) and an AAALAC International Ad Hoc Visitor.
